Snapshot of Today's Youth: Shaping the Future
Earlier.org is fortunate to have some very special, high-profile community support. 99.5 WMAG's veteran on-air personality, Lora Songster, is one of those folks. Loyal, reliable and truly committed are just a few of the thoughts that come to mind when thinking about Lora and her tireless work for earlier.org and breast cancer.
So, it was a very special evening on Friday, November 18th when Lora's daughter, Lucy Harvey and her friend, Jenna Massengale hosetd a cocktail party in Oak Ridge, NC to benefit earlier.org. Lucy is an 18-year-old senior at Southwest Guilford High School and chose earlier.org as the charity for her senior project. Lucy's great-grandmother Songster died of breast cancer and Lucy's mother spends countless hours each year working for breast cancer-related causes.
Lucy is interested – and quite skilled — in the culinary arts. (She may even continue to study in this area after graduation in June.) Lucy spent many hours in the kitchen preparing amazing hors d'oeuvres for her nearly 30 guests to enjoy that evening. Jenna baked delectable pink cupcakes, not only for dessert, but for yummy party favors, too. Guests included friends, family and associates of Lucy and Jenna, whose one request was simple: Come, enjoy exquisite food and wine, and make a donation to earlier.org in support of critical earlier detection test research.
Lucy and Jenna raised $500 that evening! Earlier.org is extremely grateful for their tremendous efforts and job-well-done. These two enterprising young ladies are shining examples of today's youth who are shaping the future of breast cancer for themselves and others.
